Monster in the Mist.v2

Friday, 24 Oct, 1987 - It was an unusually cold winter setting in for Boulder City. 20s in the daytime! Would it warm up in time for Halloween next weekend? Or would the kids have to wear heavy coats over their costumes? TV commercials and radio broadcasts are fueling the kids’ hype about the coming Halloween. Playful costumes (Freddy Krueger, Alf, Beetlejuice, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Gumby, and even California Raisins) line the store shelves along with bags of candy (Nerds, Skittles, and Sour-Patch-Kids came out years before). But there are also reports of mummy sightings around town. OK, what new movie is coming out now? Ace (Whitney): 16yo with a student driver’s license. Thanks to Miss Patsy (house maid), Ace was passing his Driver’s Ed classes with flying colors. He thumbed through the car magazines to pick out his first car, “I wonder what Gene Simmons first drove?” Eric (Mike): 13yo who dug through his old costumes for a mix-match combination that would do jus...

Monday, 31 Dec, 1986 - Holiday break with wet snow blanketing the ground as the kids head to their Pierson Salvage hangout to chat about their best Christmas gift. Ace (Whitney): maybe someday his parents would offer presents Ace actually liked. But once again he found a dozen gifts under the tree that would please the heart of any other kid (just not Ace). It was his housemaid Patsy who gave him the KISS poster personally signed by non-other than Gene Simmons himself! For his November 13 th birthday, as a new teen, his grandfather gifted him the time-honored native custom of spending an hour in a sweat lodge. Ein (Joey): he got the standard box of socks from his grandmother, but it was mom who got him the fancy new Nintendo Gameboy! Ein spent the res...

Monday, Nov 1, 1986 : Ein nearly fainted when the porcelain dolls slowly turned in unison towards him and then all spoke at once “Play with Alice in the Cellar.” Ace chased after Ein who bolted from Alice’s upstairs bedroom, “Ein, calm down. It’s just mental suggestions to go to the basement. If Eric and Evan are right about animatronics, maybe Randy and his goons tampered with the recordings to get us to follow them. Don’t forget, we need to find and rescue our friend Josh (Tuttle).” Solving the Mystery And that’s when Ace [fear of being rejected] saw Gene Simmons (KISS) at the top of the stairs mocking him, “What kind of outfit is that you’re wearing? Garbage. Loser; get lost kid.” Ein [fear of falling] wasn’t interested as he had his own problem: the floor gave way, and he was free-falling again. He reached for the D-ring of his parachute and pulled. Failure. He frantically reached for the pack on his back to pull as he tumbled through the sky. Those at the bottom of the sta...
